On February 1 and 2, 2019, we conducted a teacher's training at Shree Bi. Pi. Primary School, Baniniya, Dhanusha district, Janakpur. The training was attended by a total of 23 teachers from 5 different public primary schools in Janakpur. A team of 4 left for the training from WDAC on January 31.
Two teachers from AVM School were the trainers identified for the training. The trainers were accompanied by team members from WDAC.
The training incorporated activity based learning and teaching methods and the participation from the teachers and headmasters created better ways to contextualise the training model. According to the teachers, they had a new training experience with multiple activities and reflections included. One of the teachers from Shree Aadharbhut Vidhyalaya said, “We attended several trainings before but they were very unlike this one. We really enjoyed these 2 days.”
The teachers were also appreciative of the hands on activities that were included. They mentioned being able to learn better through the exercises that were given in the training.
It was reflected that similar training need to be conducted on a regular basis to support the teacher's learning.
