These last few months have been all about how we build community capacity to build strong enterprises and also on how we can at PRI-Kenya improve to support our partners with finding better markets for their produce.
In RONGO we had a visit from international permaculture designer and coffee expert John Sheffy and Matthew Mugo, Kenyan coffee expert from Gibsons coffee. We can now offer coffee roasted at Gibsons to our growing network of customers.
In Laikipia, Naatum Women's group have benefited from the presence of cob building expert Cesar Loza from Spain. They have been building a kitchen for their site.
Aside from these we have focused on organizational development and strategic planning. A Strategic Planning workshop was carried out for PRI-Kenya with representatives from all the different partners where the plans for the next three years were discussed. We looked closely at how we can best support our partners and how we can be of mutual benefit to each other. It was an intense and fantastic three days which exhausted us all but gave us all lots of inspiration for how we can carry the vision of permaculture in East Africa forward.
From this we then planned together with Laikipia Permaculture Centre for a Strategic Planning Workshop to discuss their plans for the next three years and how we can best work together. LPC is going from strength to strength and is now moving out of being so dependant on PRI-Kenya, taking over a lot of the administrative functions that PRI-Kenya would previously take care of. This is exactly the kind of development we hope to see and we will do our best to continue supporting LPC in whatever way we can to see them prosper as a centre for Permaculture in Laikipia and a well functioning community ecological enterprise.
We feel blessed to be working with such fantastic partners, helping to spread permaculture across the African continent!
