PRI-Kenya offers a professional and comprehensive education programme in permaculture design and related subjects. Our Teacher Training provides skills in teaching permaculture for those who have already completed their PDC and who already have some experience implementing permaculture. As part of our TOT and together with International Permaculture facilitators, we focus on giving students an in-depth insight into the permaculture design process alongside.
Across East Africa resources are scarce and the problems of deforestation, soil erosion and lack of water are compounded by increasingly severe impacts of climate change. Furthermore much of the population lacks the knowledge or training to combat these threats leaving smallholder farmers exposed to food insecurity and rising inflation.
Permaculture gifts us with enormous power to change our existence into a healthier and earth friendlier life, no matter where you are at. It lives and grows through the many people who do not only keep alive and protect this precious treasure, but who also dare to pass it onto others. It is the teachers that make permaculture accessible and allow the spark to move on to touch more people's lives, in the workshops and trainings that they are running.
Through permaculture the people of East Africa can work with nature to ensure long term food security for themselves and their communities whilst conserving their natural environment. PRI Kenya supports people to gain teaching skills and the aim is to expand the pool of trainers to give access to more farmers, communities and businesses the knowledge to push for a more regenerative future.
