This project will enable us to teach sexual violence prevention to 1,250 high school students in Kibera equipping them with the knowledge, skills and resources they need to prevent, respond to and lead in ending sexual violence.
1 in every 3 women in Kenya has been sexually violated and 55% of High School students believe that it's a man's right to have sex with a woman. This can be attributed to cultural mindsets that subjugate women and perpetuate sexual violence.
We are making respect known by teaching high school students how to prevent sexual violence. Our goal is to break the culture of silence and create safe spaces that facilitate the unlearning of toxic traditional beliefs.
By creating awareness on matters of sexual violence in high schools, we are raising survivors and advocates who will lead in ending the cycle of sexual violence in their communities.
