Teach For Ukraine recruits, trains, and places young Ukrainian professionals in rural schools where war and systemic inequity have left children without teachers. For two years, they teach different subjects and help students regain trust in learning. In classrooms and through community projects, they bring stability and hope, giving Ukrainian children a chance to fulfil their potential and shape their own future.
Across Ukraine's rural areas, there are schools where children haven't seen a math teacher in years, where English teachers must also cover geography due to teacher shortages. This crisis began before the war, but the full-scale invasion has deepened it. Research now confirms a 4.5-year gap in educational achievements between students in urban and rural areas. Yet, Ukraine's future will be built mainly in village classrooms, fueled by young people empowered to believe they belong in that future.
Teach For Ukraine recruits and trains talented professionals to teach in underserved rural schools of Ukraine. Fellows undergo a rigorous selection and comprehensive training before committing to teach for two years using trauma-informed methods. Beyond the classroom, they lead extracurricular activities and community initiatives. Ongoing mentorship and support ensure their impact lasts. Alumni become educators, policymakers, and civic leaders, driving meaningful change across the country.
We create lasting change by developing a network of leaders. Alumni become teachers, school principals, policymakers, and civic leaders. Students gain quality education and empowerment to shape their futures. Schools benefit from trained educators, administrators, and long-term capacity-building. Rural communities receive invested young citizens ready to make meaningful improvements. Over time, the program reduces educational inequality and contributes to Ukraine's recovery and development.
