Hunger is always an urgent need, but we are now seeing a growing number of people who have never before sought help feeding themselves and their families. Support of this project will allow Target Hunger to add additional drive-thru food distributions to help meet the increased and growing need in our community.
Target Hunger is responding to a sudden and dramatic increase in the number of people seeking food assistance due to the job losses, business and school closings, and countywide stay-a-home order triggered by the COVID-19 crisis. Individuals who in the past never needed food assistance are now for the first time struggling to provide food for their families. Right now, over 45% of the clients Target Hunger serves are new individuals seeking food assistance.
Target Hunger is adding food distributions to meet the growing need. Additional drive-thru distributions will allow us to safely serve more individuals who have never before relied on food assistance.
The project will provide immediate food assistance to a growing number of families that now need food. Not having to worry about food will allow for greater long-term stability for those that are suffering from the pandemic.
