Keep Afghan Children and Teachers In School

By Fawadullah Saeedi | Provincial Lead

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, Teach for Afghanistan Organization (TAO) continues to ensure that children in underserved communities have access to quality education and dedicated teachers.

During this reporting period, 11 generous donors contributed $2,202.56 to TAO's “Keep Afghan Children and Teachers In School” project. Your support helped TAO retain qualified teachers in underserved rural classrooms and provide them with the resources, training, and coaching needed to continue supporting students and improving learning outcomes.

A Story of Impact

Marzia Sahraye* is one of the TAO Fellows supported through this project. Marzia teaches in a rural school in Laghman Province, where students have limited access to qualified teachers and learning resources.

With support from GlobalGiving donors, Marzia was able to continue teaching throughout the reporting period and receive regular coaching and mentoring. Her Fellow Coach supported her in strengthening her teaching practices and introducing more interactive classroom activities. This helped create a more engaging learning environment where students became more confident in participating in lessons.

Your contribution did not simply support a teacher's salary—it helped keep a classroom open, supported a teacher's professional growth, and gave students a continued opportunity to learn.

How Your Donations Helped

During this reporting period, 11 generous donors contributed a total of $2,202.56 to support Teach for Afghanistan Organization's (TAO) “Keep Afghan Children and Teachers In School” project. Three donors contributed between $10 and $22, providing $52.00 to support Fellows Coaches internet and mobile communication costs. One donor contributed $25.00 to help cover classroom and office stationery expenses. Four donors gave between $50 and $67, contributing a combined $217.20 toward Fellows’ monthly salaries and communication costs. Two donors contributed $100 each, providing $200.00—enough to cover nearly one month’s salary for a Fellow. In addition, one major donor contributed $1,708.36, supporting Fellow salaries and essential program costs for six months. Together, these contributions have helped TAO continue supporting teachers and students in underserved communities by ensuring that Fellows have the resources, connectivity, and financial support needed to deliver quality education.

What Your Support Made Possible

  • The funds raised helped TAO to:
  • Support 2 Fellows' salaries for six months.
  • Cover internet and mobile communication costs for 3 Fellow Coaches.
  • Provide essential classroom and office stationery.
  • Enable continued coaching, supervision, and professional support for Fellows serving in rural schools

Program spending:

  • Fellow salaries: $1,680
  • Internet & mobile costs: $252
  • Stationery: $270.56
  • Total: $2,202.56

This support contributes to TAO's wider work across Nangarhar, Laghman, and Parwan, where Fellows are placed in communities with significant education needs. Women make up half of TAO's Fellows and Coaches, strengthening opportunities for girls and increasing female representation in education.

Over the past decade, TAO has reached more than 170,000 children, trained over 540 education leaders, and supported learning in more than 200 schools across Afghanistan.

Thank You!

Every contribution made a difference. Whether it was $10, $25, $100, or $1,000+, your generosity helped keep Afghan teachers in classrooms and children learning.

On behalf of Marzia, her students, and the communities we serve, thank you for helping keep Afghan children learning and investing in a stronger future through education.
