The objective of this project is the reconstruction 16 houses in the community of Santa Cruz Cuautomatitla that were affected by the earthquake of September 19, 2017. These houses have severe, medium and minor damages, so they can not be inhabited. The repair process involves the affected inhabitants and encourages community participation for the development of livelihoods and the territorial management of their home.
Santa Cruz Cuautomatitla is located in a zone of great seismic activity and high marginalization, so the current challenge is the reconstruction of houses with severe damages, with the guarantee to be resistant to future earthquakes, as well as training the inhabitants of Santa Cruz Cuautomatitla in these reconstruction techniques to guarantee the permanence of these houses and those of later constructions. Which will improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of Santa Cruz Cuautomatitla.
This project will help to redesign and rebuild 16 dwellings partially affected by the earthquake. The inhabitants will be involved in the adjustment of the architectural design to be appropriate to their housing needs, providing local knowledge for the construction process and training them with a resistant earthquake technique. They would also join in the reconstruction processes of other families and participate in the elaboration of diagnoses that would allow to improve the livelihoods
A partir del sismo Tamakepalis ha construido 12 albegues de bambu, 10 casas sismo resistentes. In this second stage will help 16 families to recover their home and their way of life, they will also obtain new knowledge of resistant earthquake construction and will learn to manage their territory in a more secure way. These reconstructions will improve their quality of life, as well as the community. We will help an entire community to strengthen their social tissue by community participation.
