Hello!
We at PEN PAPER PEACE e.V. have been full of activities and ideas in the first half of the year! A lot has happened in our project Talleres (Spanish for “workshops”):
The Talleres are open!
There is good news: The doors of the "Talleres" are open again since the beginning of March 2021! Thus, the training program for young people from socioeconomically challenged families will finally continue. Due to the Corona pandemic, the premises were closed for many months and thus the training program was also put on hold.
Now, 6 of the workshops have been open again for a good 3 months, a huge success! Due to Covid-19 restrictions it is not yet possible to welcome all students at once, but a huge portion of the kids can already participate in the professional programming. We are very happy that the young people are learning and working in the Talleres again.
Looking forward to 2022 we are optimistic that all workshops will open again and at full capacity. Help us to support the project in the future!
New workshop
Not only are most of the workshops open again, there also is a new workshop launching: automotive painting. In addition to the existing range like cosmetics, tailoring or carpentry, young people can now train in a further specialty that helps them to create an independent future.
The international writing competition started
Together with the Eckenroth Foundation, we are inviting children and young people to take part in our international writing competition in 2021. With our topics, we want to inspire young people to look beyond their "borders". Children and young people from Germany, Italy, Haiti, Honduras and Namibia can take part. Last year, a German-Haitian writing competition was already held in cooperation with the Eckenroth Foundation under the theme "My dream for the future". Unfortunately, due to Corona, the competition in Haiti had to be cancelled. In Germany, however, it was a huge success. Now we are looking forward to all the texts that students will write this year.
