In the children village located in Pokhara, we care for endangered girls aged 4-18 placed by the government. We provide a safe, warm environment, psychological, educational, and financial support. We also facilitate their transition to independence once they finish their studies. Recognized as a "Model Village" in 2023, we have cared for 25-30 children annually since 2019, totaling 49 children since the project began. Our goal is to continue supporting both current and future children.
In Asia, more than 150 million women are missing. Nepal is a country facing widespread poverty, where young women and girls are particularly at risk, dealing with issues such as abuse, violence, and human trafficking. In May 2019, we established a partnership with Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN), a local NGO dedicated to assisting endangered Nepalese women and girls. Back in 2018, OVN was asked by local authorities to close the village as it was deemed too old and non-compliant anymore.
We provide a safe home for endangered or orphan girls. To create a warmer, family-like environment, we renovated two ruined houses and built two new ones, housing 8-10 children with a nanny. We fund all their essential needs like food, education, psychological and medical care, and we promote sustainability practices (solar panels, greenhouse, biogas) to make them more independent. Partnering with OVN and LP4Y, we prepare these girls for independence, ensuring a secure future after the village.
Each year, 25 to 30 children benefit from our care, with a total of 49 supported since 2019. In October 2023, the Nepalese authorities recognized the village as a "Model Village," a great achievement as it was done by the same team that had ordered its closure in 2018. Moving forward, we aim to continue financing the village, supporting the children, and assisting these young women until they achieve autonomy. In the long term, we aim to help the village achieve greater financial independence.
