Challenge

Typhoons Krathon and Kong-rey have severely impacted Taiwan, causing displacement and infrastructure damage in areas like Taoyuan, Hualien, and Taitung. With destroyed roads, submerged homes, and widespread outages, access is limited, leaving many families without essentials. Repeated storms have weakened critical infrastructure, delaying recovery and heightening vulnerability. This project provides essential support to help affected regions regain stability and resilience.

Solution

MSM is scaling up efforts to meet the increased needs following Typhoons Krathon and Kong-rey: (1)distributing essential supplies like food and water, and providing psychosocial support to help individuals cope with trauma; (2)next, repairing and rebuilding homes to ensure safe living conditions; (3)additionally, offering grants to farmers to restart agricultural activities and providing disaster preparedness and resilience training to rural, mountainous, and indigenous communities.

Long-Term Impact

Supporting over 200 families, this project offers both urgent relief and sustainable recovery solutions. Beyond rebuilding homes and restoring critical infrastructure, MSM's efforts include disaster preparedness training and agricultural support to empower communities. In collaboration with local governments, MSM is committed to reinforcing these regions against future natural disasters, minimizing potential damage, and fostering long-term resilience and stability within vulnerable communities.
