A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the east coast of Taiwan, Hualien on 6 February 2018. The earthquake claimed 17 lives, 285 people were injured, and 493 people were displaced. World Vision Taiwan is mobilizing to provide support and emergency aid to the people impacted by the earthquake. All donations to this fund will exclusively support relief and recovery efforts in Hualien.
Many families are forced to stay in shelters, or with friends and families due to the earthquake. Immediate relief efforts are needed; including medical aid, home repair, and emotional support are needed. In the meantime, the new school semester starting soon after the disaster, those families affected by the earthquake are facing a heavy burden of home rehabilitation and education fee at the same time.
After the crisis, World Vision Taiwan immediately formed an Emergency Operations Center and set up two Child Friendly Spaces. We continue providing psychological-social support to families and children. We are enlisting your help to provide emergency aid, home repair aid, furniture replacement aid, education aid and school supplies to disaster-affected families to help them return to a normal life. All donations will exclusively support Hualien earthquake recovery.
It is expected to help those disaster-affected families return to normal life with the help of those emergency aids, and also ensure students are able to continue receiving education. World Vision Taiwan will also continue providing emotional support to both children and families.
