Our social enterprise – tailoring workshop for women from social vulnerable groups started working!
After more than 6 month of efforts for preparation, repairing, buying equipment and other things we finished the technical part of the project. The most important part remained – finding the Roma women that would like to take part of the program. In the beginning of January we conducted interviews with 15 women from the largest Roma community in the Balkan Peninsula Stolipinovo. Most of them have not completed and 8th grade, have never worked in their life, but were keen to launch a training program in tailoring. Their enthusiasm and motivation to learn and make everything possible to integrate the labor market was contagious. So we picked the first four women that will start the training program.
On January 30, the official opening of the enterprise was held. It was attended by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Deputy Governor, Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv, Three district Mayors, Director of Social Assistance in Plovdiv Municipality, Honorary Consul of Germany for Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and many other official guests. The main characters of this fairy tale – the 4 women from Stolipinovo, were excited and eager. We all promised ourselves to work hard so that this tale have a happy ending and Donka, Raina, Milka and Stanka to find their dream job and feel independent and dignified.
