Afrika Tikkun invests in the future of disadvantaged young people in South Africa, enabling them to compete in the job market and become productive citizens. We know that technology plays a significant role in their future. Whatever sector our youth plan to go into, there will be computers and a there is a constant need to be up-skilled to keep up with the forever-changing technological environment. This project will raise $5,800 for 250 tablets and will bring technology to 2,500 young people.
The youth unemployment rate in South Africa is at a staggering 55.9%. The current rapid developments in technology will further cause economies to slip behind and inequality to widen. Afrika Tikkun serves the most disadvantaged youth in South Africa and believes that in order for them to secure job opportunities, it is imperative for them to become proficient in the computer and digital skills that are much needed by the job market.
This project will raise $5,800 to provide 2,500 disadvantaged youth with access to digital skills with the help of 250 tablets. Some of the resources provided through these tablets will include: E-Learning; Career Assessment for Career Guidance Purposes using Knakc; Basic Computer Skills; Advanced Coding and Computer Science Awareness Training; Numeracy and Literacy Educational Development and IBM Digital Nation implementation for young school leavers and work seekers.
The project will help 2,500 young people get access to digital skills needed to compete in the job market. With your help, Afrika Tikkun will enable young people to secure job opportunities and break the cycle of poverty by: Improving academic and career outcomes of young people; Establishing a strong numeracy and literacy foundation for young children; and by Providing critical skills needed by the country in area of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).
