Donations for 100 computer tablets from this campaign and direct emails arrived within two weeks. Thank you!
Generous supporters clearly valued the emphasis on technical skills, in addition to academics, incorporated in the curriculum at Maya Jaguar Private Technical Institute and our literacy program. With 100 new tablets for the 2026 school year (Januaray - October), our students will be empowered with onlince learning and introduction to technical skills. Our high school students practice their technical skills by providing computer maintenance and repairs to computers at the areas state edcuation offices in Barillas. Successful graduates are allowed to retain their tablets as a graduation gift.
Likewise, the Maya preschoolers in our Early Bilingual Literacy program benefit from an simple introduction to online learning to prepare them for an all-Spanish curriculum once they enter first garde. In addition, the remedial tutoring our bilingual teachers provide to elementary school students helps them graduate successfully from sixth grade, instead of dropping out.
With a staggering 76% drop out rate for Maya children before completing sixth grade, your support for our education and literacy programs is vital!
