As the violence begins to diminish, the media spotlight has dimmed on Syria. But the devastation that the past eight years has brought to the country remains. With a healthcare system that remains less than fifty percent funded and sanctions leading to daily electrical outages, our partner hospital in Aleppo still needs all the help it can get.
Still standing in West Aleppo, the Iman Maternity Hospital is the last fully-functioning health center in the city - with a maternity and pediatric wing that is alarmingly short of supplies. Through all this adversity and turmoil, however, there are still stories of light and laughter. Pictured here are the triplets safely delivered in that very maternity wing, just in time for the New Year.
We love receiving pictures like these from the hospital. Anas, our in-country partner, sent it to us along with a message brimming with pride. We share in that sentiment, and as committed supporters of our work in Syria, you all should share in that, too. Let's continue to show up for Syrian babies like these, and the mamas and health workers who bring them into the world.
