Dear GlobalGiving Project Team,
We are pleased to share an update on the impact of donor support at Issy Geshen Lamont Home in Lamontville, Durban.
The Home continues to provide daily 24 hour nursing care to 69 elderly residents, who are frail, bedbound or are living with dementia. All of our residents depend on assistance even with their most basic needs. Donor contributions during this period have ensured a consistent supply of incontinence care products (including adult nappies), 24-hour nursing support and nutritious meals, the essentials that safeguard both the health and the dignity of our residents.
This report's featured story is that of Gogo Thandi*, 79, who arrived at the Home withdrawn and isolated after years of managing frailty alone. Today, supported by our professional caregiving team and surrounded by a community that knows her by name, she describes the Home simply: "Here, I am somebody." Her story reflects the heart of our approach, care that restores not only physical wellbeing, but belonging and self-worth.
