Happy Fall, Global Givers!
It’s hard to believe it, but the semester is nearly over! We’ve had a great semester, with an amazing group of new staff members and the development of some new outreach initiatives, including a community ghU, which will debut early next semester.
Thanks in large part to your contributions, this past summer’s GROW team was able to bring $8,474 to Comitancillo, which supported the installation of over 100 new filters in nine villages, raising our total number of filters installed to 245!
Globemed at Cornell has had a number of successful events this semester, including our second annual Midnight Bake Sale! Despite the cold, we had an amazing show of support! This past Friday, we hosted our second annual Globemed Variety Show with SamahopeU in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight Hall. We extend our sincerest thanks to the seven student groups who came to perform: Cornell Bhangra, Hearsay A Capella, The Skits, Big Red Raas, Class Notes, Yamati, and Step. See some pictures from the event attached to this update! Another big thank you to Ithaca Bakery for providing delicious (and discounted!) desserts as well.
Next semester, we’re looking forward to building upon the success of last year’s Global Health Gala, hosted with Cornell Health International. Keep an ear out for updates on that event, as well as our annual Strip for Solidarity Run/Walk 5K.
Once again, we want to thank all of you for your continued support – none of what we do would be possible without your help, and we are so happy to have you join us in our goal of achieving global health and social justice. Wishing you a restful and joyful holiday season!
Lots of Globemed Love!
