Happy Summer, Global Givers!
The spring semester has just wound down here at Cornell, and we’re officially sending our Globemed seniors off into the big wide world! We’ll miss them terribly, but we know that they’re ready for whatever life holds next!
Globemed at Cornell has had a great semester of collaboration and new fundraising events. In February, we held a benefit dinner with Cornell Health Initiatives. It was a wonderful night with excellent food, two great speakers, and lots of fun prizes! We’re looking forward to hosting the second benefit dinner again with CHI next year! We also hosted the first ever Globemed Variety Show with SamahopeU in March, which was a collaborative effort including many Cornell performance groups. In April, we hosted our fourth annual Strip for Solidarity with Partners in Health. A huge thanks to all of our collaborators for their help with two new events this semester.
In addition to three fabulous events, we’ve selected a new eboard for the 2015-2016 school year. Congratulations to Rie Sue and Kara Beckman, our new external and internal co-presidents, and good luck to them and their fabulous new eboard! We’re looking forward to working with both new and old staff for another great year in the fall.
This year’s GROW interns are ready for their journey to Comitancillo, and we are so excited to have Lexie, Olivia, Diana, and Jessica traveling down to Guatemala for our second summer working with AMMID! As always, we want to thank all of you for your continued support – none of what we do would be possible without your help, and we are so happy to have you join us in our goal of achieving global health and social justice. Wishing you a restful and restorative summer, and we will see you again in the fall!
Lots of Globemed Love!
