The Sustainable Green Leaders program is a semester long program, which is designed for students who are 10-12 years old. The program will foster responsible citizenship by teaching 280 primary school students about environmental protection and sustainable development, through classroom activities that will explore the balance between energy development and city construction. The community that program serves is Kunshan, Jiangsu Province and Arconic will actively support the community growth.
The concept of environment protection is now becoming more and more popular and in China, many primary schools have opened courses about environment protection and sustainable development. However, these courses just teach students how to practice environment protection and sustainable development, ignoring the reasons why students are supposed to practice environment protection and sustainable development. Only if students understand 'why', they can practice 'how' and 'what' better.
The Sustainable Green Leaders program will not directly tell students why we are supposed to practice environment protection and sustainable development. The program will involve business volunteers and teachers, using various interactive game activities, to guide students to understand why people should practice environment protection and sustainable development.
The program will education 200 primary students guiding them to better understand why people should do environment protection and sustainable development. When they understand 'why', they can practice 'what' and 'how' better.
