Dear Friends and Family,
It's been a busy few months and donations have slowed down rather a lot over the past few months therefore we have not been able to expand our work and create more veggie gardens but we have been able to use the funds donated to ensure we plant and look after our current veggie gardens.
In South Africa we have hit planting season and so we decided to partner up and take our grade 5 students out to the veggie garden and get them to plant and learn about this sustainable food source, we also ran lessons around soil and growing techniques that they can take home to their family.
In our pre-school we had some visitors from Ohio State University in the USA, these students worked with the children to install small veggie gardens and classroom pots for each student to learn to grow and look after their own veggie. They also provided a lesson plan and brought a laptop to show the children some eco-videos and songs to make the lessons more interactive and fun.
Since this we have had a lot of requests for us to bring these lessons to other township pre-schools and primary schools and the team are really excited about this but we can only begin this once we raise the funds
Thank You,
Tyrone
