Dear Supporters!
Can you believe it is already approaching the end of February and this is our first update! Our office time has been limited but the plus side of this is that we have been out and about every day working with the community and we are making some exciting moves forward already in this new year.
Remember the African school we built a huge veggie garden, this garden is feeding around 250 people but we could do more if we had a reliable power supply. In South Africa we have had a shortage of power for the past 10 years and as such our lovely government feels rather than deal with the issue they will simply cut our power for up to 11 hours every day to share the power we have. During this time we come to a stand still and what is more our irrigation pumps stop working, this regular stopping causes them to malfunction and break therefore we are replacing parts regularly and our garden is lacking water. It's a real catch 22 for us right now.
We have teamed up with another action change project and we have secured some amazing solar panels along with a pump inverter so we can take this veggie garden 100% offgrid and remove another running cost with renewable power. We are so excited but we need to purchase lots of tools, cables and fund an electrician to set us up. From 8th April GlobalGiving are running Little X Little which means all donations of up to $50 will be matched so we appeal to our amazing supporters once again that id you can donate to us during this week please save the date and little by little we can make a difference.
Thank You
