Limye lavi is committed to ending child slavery in Haiti. For the last 20 years, we've been working on constructing communities that support strong Haitian families. Our project operates in four cycles. 1. We teach parents on the realities of child slavery in Haiti. 2. We provide a sustainable ways for communities to participate in the economy 3. We support schooling and education efforts for children who are recently removed from child slavery 4. We mobilize the community.
Our project is in danger of ending due to lack of funding. Thousands of children are living in inhumane, slave-like conditions in Haiti. The average Haitian family lives in extreme poverty, as a result many family are forced to send their children elsewhere for them to survive and have a chance to eat at least one meal a day. Unfortunately, in most cases, these children end up being abused and mistreated. They do not attend school, they are beaten and away from their families.
This project will solve the problem by providing a sustainable system for those children to not only leave the slavery system, it will also support their families in participating in the local economy, while training the community through development series so that no child has to be sent away. Community members are able to learn how to farm their own land, take care of livestock in addition to access to seed/startup funds.
In the last 20 years that Limye lavi has been operating, hundreds of children have been giving a second chance at a different life. Families have been transformed, but now more than ever, our impact will have a long-term impact. Families are desperate for solutions. Due to a gap in our funding, for the first time in 20 years, our project is in danger of stopping its operations. Your donations will help this program continue and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of families.
