Expanding Our Sustainable Farm in Kkona
At Another Hope Children’s Ministries, building long-term sustainability means creating income-generating initiatives that directly strengthen our programs while nourishing the children under our care. Today, we are thrilled to share an encouraging milestone from our agricultural project!
Through your partnership on our sustainability initiatives, we welcomed a dairy cow to the ministry farm. Recently, our herd expanded in the best possible way: she gave birth to a healthy female calf!
Welcoming a female calf is a vital strategic victory for our farm's future. It ensures the ongoing multiplication of our dairy livestock, laying the groundwork for increased herd resilience and long-term milk yields without needing to purchase additional cattle down the line.
Immediate Nutritional & Financial Impact
The daily impact of this milestone is already being felt across our community in Wakiso District:
Direct Nutritional Support for Children: We are currently harvesting 7 liters of fresh milk every day. A primary portion of this daily harvest goes directly to our residential children, enriching their daily meals with vital protein, calcium, and essential nutrients critical for healthy growth and development.
Local Milk Sales for Operational Support: The remaining milk is packaged and sold within the local community. The revenue generated from these daily sales feeds right back into the agricultural project—covering feed supplements, veterinary care, and farm maintenance, making this enterprise truly self-sustaining.
Hands-on Learning: Caring for the mother and her calf provides practical vocational learning for our older youth, instilling valuable knowledge in animal husbandry, sustainable farming, and micro-enterprise management.
The Road Ahead
This success exemplifies what our sustainability project is all about: transforming initial donor support into living assets that feed children, generate recurring revenue, and reduce reliance on outside relief.
As our heifer calf grows and our management systems strengthen, we look forward to scaling our daily yields and expanding dairy production across our wider community interventions.
Thank you for investing in practical, dignified, and sustainable solutions for the vulnerable children and families of Kkona. Your support continues to produce real, nourishing results every single day!
