The Bonus Day was a Great Success!

Thanks to all of the amazing support from so many individuals dedicated to helping women and girls who are victims of trafficking, our organization has been able to get MUCH closer to its goal!

On March 16th GlobalGiving held a Bonus Day where the Platform committed to matching any donation received that day and, as a result, we were able to reach our current fundraising total of $1,392.00. Our generous donors gifted over 500 US dollars and GlobalGiving then matched the total, helping us to earn almost $700 in ONE DAY! In fact, we were among some the top organizations that raised the most money during the Bonus Day, which is incredible because there are over 2,000 projects! Due to the tremendous success we had that day we are well on our way to making a difference in the lives of women and girls who are in situations of exploitation as we speak.

Since our last report, we have raised a total of $1,014. With that money, we will be able to provide 3 survivors with transportation for training sessions for 2 months. While it may not seem like much, the transportation allows the survivors to arrive to the training sessions every day as well as to go out with the Mobile Rescue Unit to carry-out on-the-ground identification and intervention with victims. This means that it not only changes the lives of these 3 girls, giving them the chance to learn and improve their professional and social skills and, in turn, providing them with a brighter future, but it also greatly impacts the lives of many girls who are currently being sexually exploited on a daily basis.

Every morning, afternoon and evening the Mobile Rescue Unit goes onto the streets and into the clubs and private apartments where possible trafficking victims are found. The team of survivors connects with these women and girls, as they know what they are going through, and offers them information on the various services and resources available to them to help escape their situation of exploitation. Every day the Mobile Rescue Unit makes contact and intervenes with around 280 women and girls. Depending on the zones which they enter, two members of Rescue could see up to 100 individuals a day.

With those numbers, 3 additional members of the team could make contact with even more possible victims of human trafficking, offering them real alternatives to help them leave their situation and begin a new life!

One of the newest members of the Mobile Rescue Unit mentioned the other day:

“I’m so happy to be here. I have learned so much and I love being able to help other girls like me. I can help them see there is a way out and that it is possible to begin a new life.”

So, once again, we would like to thank you for your financial gifts. We really appreciate the support and would not be able to do the work we do without it.

Please help us to continue spreading the word about our project. We are confident we can continue to get closer to our goal! Also, feel free to check out the short video about the story of Isabella, a 16 year old pregnant girl who was rescued from her trafficking situation and who today, has a new life free from exploitation!

Do you have any thoughts or ideas on how to get more financial support? We’re open to however you might want and be able to contribute! Your partnership makes a huge difference!
