It’s that time…time for exciting updates on our Project, which you have so generously helped fund!
Another 3 months have passed, and although it seems like such a short amount of time, a lot sure can happen! Right after our last report we began a new month, and with it, a new season. Coming back from “Semana Santa” (a.k.a. Holy Week) 3 new coworkers joined our team, one being a trafficking survivor who now forms part of the Mobile Rescue Unit, Sophia.
This young lady has gone through the intervention process with us here at APRAMP, participating in different professional training courses and working side by side with social workers to receive the resources and services she needed in order to escape her situation of sexual exploitation. After putting in time and effort to achieve full recovery, Sophia has come full circle and is now part of our team here at APRAMP.
The project, “Rescue and Empower Sex Trafficking Victims”, is one of the most encouraging programs at APRAMP. While every aspect of our work is important, one of our favorite things is to see first-hand the tremendous growth of these women and girls and to see just how far they are able to come, achieving a new life, a new sense of self, and, most importantly, their freedom.
Sophia, just like most women and girls when we first come into contact with them, was distraught, completely hopeless, and desperate to get out of the nightmare she was being forced to live. She has gone through a very rough journey, but she is now on the other side and has come to “pay it forward” and help rescue other women and girls who are suffering the way she has. She said on her first day at work:
“I’m a bit nervous to start a new job, but I am so happy to be here. Without APRAMP’s help, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I want nothing more than to be part of the APRAMP team and “pay it forward” as part of the Mobile Rescue Unit in order to help other women like me.”
This is what we live for. It is beautiful to see how far Sophia has come and where she will get to go in the future, and BY OUR SIDE NONETHELESS!
So, once again, we say THANK YOU! With your generosity, MORE GIRLS like Sophia are able to BE FREED from such pain and suffering. And not only that, your gifts help them BEGIN THEIR JOURNEY TO STARTING A NORMAL LIFE, on their own, and FREE FROM EXPLOITATION.
Please remember to spread the word so we can guarantee more girls have the same rehabilitating and successful story as Sophia.
