Survivor Packs are care packages for survivors of violent crimes who often leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They include three toiletries, a journal, a pen, and a note of encouragement.
1 in 4 women in the United States will be a survivor of domestic violence and 1 in 5 will be a survivor of sexual assault. Women who do seek help often leave their homes with nothing and face extreme physical and mental hardships.
Our survivor packs act as a way of helping to ease the transition for women leaving abusive living situations and seeking help. We also educate every group of people who help us to make the packs on domestic violence and sexual assault with the hopes of preventing future violence against women.
In the next year, we will be creating 100,000 survivor packs, worth an estimated $1.4 million, for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors nationwide. We will also be educating millions about domestic violence through social media and in person implementations of the Survivor Packs project.
