The Hatay Surf Center, will introduce 1000 young girls and boys affected by the earthquake in Samandag and Defne districts to surfing for free. It will create generations that connect with themselves, nature, and their roots. The Hatay Surf Center will now pick up and drop off 1000 children aged 13-16 from Defne and Samandag at least 3 times during the summer. They will be introduced to surfing with theoretical and practical lessons on the coast of Samandag.
Following the earthquake, adolescents were often left out of support mechanisms, and many did not receive psychosocial support. This project aims to provide both emotional support for adolescents and to enhance their livelihoods by enabling them to earn income through the training they receive.
With Support to Life, the Hatay Surf Center will now pick up and drop off 1000 children aged 13-16 from Defne and Samandag at least 3 times during the summer of '24. They will be introduced to surfing with theoretical and practical lessons on the coast of Samandag. Twenty of them, selected from among them, will be supported to become qualified surfing professionals by deepening their skills as athletes or instructors in the field.
The primary goal of this project is to transform Hatay Samandag into a surfing center, thereby revitalizing tourism. This will not only help the local community generate income, but also support the livelihoods of the youth who receive training to become instructors.
