Summary

Flooding in Northern Uganda has disrupted education for hundreds of children, destroying homes, schools, and essential learning materials. Many families can no longer afford school supplies, forcing children out of school. This project will support 1000 flood-affected children to return to school by providing essential learning materials, psychosocial support and community-based assistance. By addressing both educational and emotional needs, the project will help children continue with education

Challenge

Seasonal floods in Northern Uganda have caused widespread displacement and destruction. Many families have lost their livelihoods, making it difficult to afford school fees, uniforms, and supplies. As a result: Children are dropping out of school Learning materials have been destroyed Schools are overcrowded or damaged Children experience stress and trauma Without intervention, many children risk permanent dropout, child labor, or early marriage.

Solution

This project will help children return to school and stay enrolled by addressing both practical and emotional barriers. We will: Provide school kits (books, pens, uniforms) to 1000 children Support school re-enrollment and attendance Deliver psychosocial support and counseling Conduct community awareness sessions on the importance of education Work with local schools and leaders to identify and support vulnerable children.

Long-Term Impact

This project will contribute to improved education access and community resilience in flood-affected areas. In the long term, it will: Increase school attendance and reduce dropout rates Improve children's emotional wellbeing Strengthen community support for education Help protect vulnerable children from exploitation and poverty Investing in education today helps build a stronger and more resilient future.
