Our aim has always been to tranform rural communites into better livelihoods. Our initial entery is usually helping communities transition into using solar energy for lighting and charging mobile phones. We then help the communities set up various income generating projects from money saved from no longer purchasing kerosene. When communities are empowered, then often demand other renewable energy technologies, espcially to help them have clean cooking.
Early this year, we worked with groups on women to train them on how to make clean cooking briquettes, which can be used for cooking instead of the dirty charcoal or firewood. The women can be able to make the briquesttes from various organic matter easily available in their farms. We trained 35 women on the benefits fo switchign to use clean energy for cooking.
As we expand this initiatve, we aim to help the women acquire better cooking stoves and some of the women groups to set up biogas for cooking.
