Spring 2025 Fellowship Report

We are grateful for the work of our 2024 Fellows in the creation and presentation of their language courses. All of our 2024 fellows' language courses are now available on our website.
Since the launch of these courses for International Mother Language Day 2025, our fellows continue to expand on their work through new projects and conference presentations. Fellows Lisa Casares and Kelvin Ndegwa's work and communities were highlighted recently at the International Conference for Language Documentation and Conservation at UH-Manoa (Hawaii). 7000 Languages continues to seek more opportunities to support our fellowship alumni with this and new projects in the years to come. It is our goal to build a thriving community of practitioners, learners, and community advocates who will lead this work in the years to come.
We are now preparing for a new cohort of fellows for 2025 to join us in the fall. We eagerly look for the support of a growing community of partners to join us in this important work. We hope we can count on you in the months and years ahead to help us foster this community!

Winter 2025 Fellowship Report

Our Fellows’ courses are currently available on our Patreon page for our subscribers. We at 7000 Languages are honored to announce the upcoming wide release of our fellowship-created language courses in the weeks to come. On February 21st, 2025, we will launch these courses worldwide on our website in alignment with International Mother Language Day 2025. Interested individuals can access them for free to learn more about these endangered languages and communities around the world.
Since the development of these language courses, our fellows continue to take great strides in supporting language revitalization in their communities. In the coming weeks, we will share updates from them directly via our 7000 Languages blog.

2024 Fellowship Report

On August 22nd, 7000 Languages' Fellows were able to present their language courses and about their communities via the 2024 Fellowship Showcase!
Over the course of the 90 minute presentation, 8 fellows showed off their unique language courses that they developed for distinct languages found all across the world. These courses will soon be made publicly available to any interested learners online for NO COST via the 7000 Languages website.
Language loss is one of the most pressing issues of our time with over half of all the remaining languages expected to lose their last speakers in this century. With that loss comes the loss of a community's connection to their ancestral language, cultural practices, alienation, and other erosion within the community. The 7000 Languages fellows have taken a great step to reverse this language loss by creating resources in languages that do not have the infrastructure and support that many languages often do. Through their leadership and hard work, they are now in a position to begin creating effective change in their communities to preserve their languages, cultures, and teachings for the generations to come. We aim to seek more opportunities to partner with these fellows in the years to come alongside other Fellowship alumni.
