Healthcare updates from Peru

By Martin | Volunteer

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a catch-up on our work bringing better healthcare to underserved rural communities in Peru—and why your support matters now more than ever.

What’s happening lately:
Back in November, Paula, a local community leader, shared a powerful story about Lluvia, a 46-year-old woman who attended our free health awareness talks. After meeting with a health professional through our program, she received personalized guidance that helped her improve her lifestyle—and even get back to work with new confidence. Stories like hers show how our outreach is making a real, lasting impact.

Where we stand financially:
To-date, the project has raised $1,365 USD of our $5,000 USD goal, with 23 kind donors contributing. While that’s a solid start, there’s still plenty of work to do before we can reach the next level of impact.

Why this matters:
Our focus is on health awareness, education, and basic medical outreach—topics like malaria prevention, sanitation, emergency phone lines, and first-responder training. By building these foundations now, we’re helping communities stay healthier, stronger, and more resilient in the long term.

What’s next:

  • Continue our free health talks and outreach workshops

  • Print materials and ride out with community nurses providing care

  • Offer emergency/pandemic response options when needed

A quick heads-up:
If you’ve been thinking about giving again, GlobalGiving’s Bonus Day on July 16–17 (10AM to 10AM EDT) is a great time—gifts of $100+ are matched on a tiered basis, so your contribution goes further during that 24-hour window.

Thank you for being part of this community-led effort. With your support, we can help more people like Lluvia gain the knowledge and care they need to thrive.
