GlobalGiving Report 3
Summer 2017
kinderhände – children’s hands
Time is flying, so did the recent semester which ended in June. All in all 120 children and their accompanying parents visited one of the ten courses and three workshops for kids and teens on weekends. We celebrated the end of the semester with a big party on June 11th with all our participants and their families outdoors at a park nearby. The program included a jumping castle, delicious food, bilingual games with Austrian sign language and lots of fun. The pictures attached to this report give you a glimpse.
Picture 1: Deaf and Hearing kids and adults came together, playing, chatting and networking.
Picture 2: Everybody loves face painting and signing. This girl signs BUTTERFLY!
Picture 3: Small and tall pros, beginners and curious people met at the park and enjoyed a time in the world of sign language.
Picture 4: Children had fun jumping in the jumping castle and play with the huge soap bubbles.

Beginning with the summer school holidays in July we offered a swim course in Austrian sign language and German for Deaf, hard-of-hearing children, CODAs (children of Deaf adults) and hearing friends. Two groups (beginners and advanced) learned over the course of two weeks (every day for one hour) how to swim or behave in the water and earned themselves a swimming-badge. Here is a quote from a Deaf grandmother who visited with her Deaf daughter and hearing grandson one of the classes:
“Hello! The swimming course is a full success! Because of the swim class, my grandson is now able to swim! Awesome! Best, C. (Email, July, 12th 2017)
New in our shop is a our colorful poster with the finger alphabet (see picture 5) and a new edition of the “Lernkoffer” – a box with 200 cards and a DVD to learn the first 100 signs.
Once again, we want to thank all our supporters and wish all of you a great summer!
