Project Update: Continuing Resource Mobilization to Support Displaced Children's Education
ONG ASRAD remains committed to implementing the “Supporting Education for Internally Displaced Children” project in Mali.
The project aims to help internally displaced children continue their education despite the difficult circumstances faced by their families. Conflict, insecurity, displacement, poverty, and loss of livelihoods can severely disrupt children's education and increase the risk of school dropout.
During this reporting period, ASRAD has continued its efforts in project preparation, community engagement, partnership development, identification of needs, and resource mobilization.
However, we have not yet secured sufficient financial resources to implement the project at the planned scale. We are therefore continuing to seek financial and technical partners to help transform these preparations into concrete educational assistance for internally displaced children.
Why Support Is Still Needed
Internally displaced families often arrive in host communities with very limited financial resources. For many parents, meeting immediate needs such as food, shelter, healthcare, and water takes priority, making it difficult to cover school-related expenses.
Additional funding will enable ASRAD to provide essential educational assistance, including:
Our objective is to ensure that displacement does not permanently deprive children of their right to education.
Education, Protection and Hope
For internally displaced children, education is more than academic learning. A safe and supportive educational environment can provide stability, protection, social inclusion, hope, and a sense of normality during a period of significant uncertainty.
Education can also help strengthen children's resilience and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to build their future.
ASRAD therefore seeks to work closely with displaced families, schools, teachers, community leaders, women, youth, and host communities to promote inclusive access to education.
Current Challenge: Funding
Our principal challenge remains mobilizing sufficient financial resources to implement the planned activities and reach more internally displaced children.
ASRAD continues to seek support from donors, foundations, humanitarian and development organizations, institutions, companies, and individual contributors.
Donations received through GlobalGiving can help us move from preparation to implementation by financing educational kits, learning materials, community activities, and other essential forms of support.
Next Steps
As funding becomes available, ASRAD plans to:
A Message to Our Supporters
We sincerely thank the GlobalGiving community, donors, and partners for their continued interest in this important initiative.
At this stage, additional financial support remains essential to enable ASRAD to implement the project at the desired scale and reach more internally displaced children in Mali.
Every contribution can make a difference. Providing a child with school supplies and access to learning can help restore hope and provide an opportunity to continue building a better future despite displacement.
Displacement should not mean the end of a child's education.
With your support, we can help internally displaced children return to learning, remain in school, and regain hope for their future.
Thank you for standing with internally displaced children and their families in Mali.
