Three Years On: Hope, Resilience, and Community in Northern Israel

By IsraAID Staff | IsraAID Israel

We recently commemorated the somber three-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks. At IsraAID, we show up for communities in crisis wherever we are needed, and for the first time, this meant responding here at home in Israel. Leveraging more than two decades of global crisis experience, we have reached thousands of people across the country over the past three years - including in Gaza border communities, underserved Bedouin villages, and displaced populations in the north.

For families in northern Israel, the crisis is far from over. Even as communities return home after prolonged displacement, ongoing conflict, regional escalation, and deep instability continue to disrupt daily life and test communal resilience. As Inbal, a resident of a northern border community, shared: "When we returned home after the evacuation, there was a sense of complete uncertainty... The activities with IsraAID created moments of joy, connection, and belonging despite everything happening around us."

IsraAID has worked hand-in-hand with northern communities across education, mental health, and emergency preparedness. We have opened safe activity spaces and supplied trauma-informed kits for children in shelters, re-established non-formal education frameworks in hard-hit border areas, and strengthened local emergency response capacity in Arab and Druze towns.

Looking ahead, we are scaling peer-to-peer mental health training for youth, providing therapeutic agriculture for people with disabilities, and partnering with Beit Berl Academy to train a new generation of educators to lead trauma-informed community recovery.

We can only do this thanks to the unshakeable commitment of our supporters around the world. Thank you for helping to ensure that communities in northern Israel have the strength and resources to rebuild with hope.
