Hope on the Border - Supporting Afghan Returnees

In April, Aseel carried out a series of targeted humanitarian interventions to assist refugees and returnees at major border points and within Afghanistan’s provinces.

1. Border Distributions Islam Qala Border (Herat Province) Distributed around 2,000 Meal Box packages to families in need. Torkham Border (Nangarhar Province)

. Islam Qala and Rah e Abrisham (Nimruz Province) Borders Distributed 100 child-focused packages to returning families from Iran. Each package included: Biscuits Drinking water Cerelac Powdered milk Diapers Feeding bottles Provided 500 women’s health kits to address urgent hygiene needs.

2. Assistance in Ghor Province Delivered tents, food items, clothes, and shoes to refugees in the province, ensuring shelter, nourishment, and basic necessities.

3. Support in Other Provinces Distributed food items to refugees unable to carry aid from border points. Implemented a registration and verification process

: Conducted surveys and registered beneficiaries for the Omid ID system. Issued Omid Cards to ensure transparent and traceable aid delivery. Dispatched aid packages to recipients once they reached their home provinces.

Impact Summary Through these coordinated efforts, Aseel addressed both immediate needs at border crossings and longer-term support within provinces. This strategic approach ensured refugees received essential items in a manner that respected their mobility limitations, enhanced transparency through Omid ID tracking, and maintained dignity during their transition.
