FIAN has been working for the farmer suicide families to get the compensation from the government and also the livelihood of the families. When we interacted the number of suicide farmers families most of the farmer families not yet received compensation from the government. For this process we along with those families went to respective Departments and have met with respective government officials and given memorandums about the issues, we meet the district collector also regarding this issue, after that we revisited several times for the status, at last, 5 families from 40 families received compensation and remaining yet to come. All the families are agriculture laborers and are insecure position

2 months ago we visited a suicide farmer family who is living in a very vulnerable condition they are located near Kunderu village, Kankipadu Mandal, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, the farmer name is Koteswara Rao who had committed suicide on 25th may 2016, he had taken a land of 6 acre’s for lease and doing cultivation from 5 years. From last 2 years, he got loss due to rains and lack of water, due to this he has taken 7 lakhs of loan from the private finance companies. He was unable to pay the loan due to lack of income, then finally he thought that there is no way to survive his family and he attempted suicide by drinking pesticide near the agricultural land. The family said that after his death they faced many problems form the financers and other problems, then FIAN AP visited officials with the proper required documents along with the family few times , at last recently after 2 years the family got compensation and they are now feeling happy that they are bit safe from the financers are they paid their loan.

Recently we visited the Agricultural department with the remaining families to check the status, at the time respective official noted our concern and he said that they will process the request as positive and will see that they will get compensation as early as possible.

In most of the families there are children who are dropping out the school due to lack of money, we rejoined 10 children to the schools by giving financial support to the families, they felt very happy, but to continue the support to those families we need assistance.

Supported 10 suicide farmer families by providing Rs. 10,000 to each family in cooperation with Raitu Swarajya Vedhika, all the families felt very happy and they said that these amounts will help them to continue their children education for some period and some of them said that it will be helping us in our emergency periods.
