Update on the Support for 250 Displaced Families

By Bola Adedugbe | Youth & Agriculture Manager

Introduction

In the wake of the devastating attack on December 25, 2023, which affected communities in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Mangu Local Government Areas (LGA) of Plateau State, Nigeria, No Hunger Initiatives (also known as No Hunger Food Bank) prioritized immediate assistance for 250 displaced families.
Recent Activities

Emergency Relief Distribution
We successfully delivered vital supplies, including food boxes, clean water, clothing, and hygiene kits, to the 250 families in need.

Vertical Backyard Farming Implementation
We expanded our vertical backyard farming initiatives by supplying additional agricultural tools and resources.
Furthermore, we conducted hands-on workshops to educate families on sustainable farming practices, enabling them to make the most of their limited space for crop cultivation.

Community Engagement

We held community forums to get a better grasp of the hurdles families are currently facing and to hear their thoughts on our efforts. We also pushed for involvement in community-led recovery, which helped beneficiaries feel more invested.

Impact

Support for 250 Families: Direct aid has made a real difference, meeting the immediate needs of these families and offering vital support when it was most needed.
Empowerment through Farming: Families involved in vertical farming saw a boost in food security, giving them access to fresh produce.
Community Cohesion: The community forums have brought families closer together, building support networks that help them bounce back.

Future Plans

Ongoing support is a priority; we will continue to provide these families with the resources and help they need.

We're also planning to launch more vocational training programs. These will be designed to help people earn a living, with a focus on what the community actually needs.

Furthermore, we're looking to partner with local and international NGOs and businesses. This will help us get more resources to the families who have been affected.

Acknowledgments

We are incredibly grateful to our donors, partners, and volunteers. Your support has made it possible for us to respond to this urgent humanitarian crisis. Your contributions are making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Conclusion

As we keep working to support and empower the 250 displaced families in Plateau State, we are committed to helping them find hope and strength. Together, we can help the community recover and rebuild.
