As part of the Fly The Phoenix Seven Continent Charity Challenge on Saturday 6th June, the communities themselves will be undertaking events to raise awareness and funds. In Guatemala our local teachers, students and families will be planting 5,000 trees and hiking around the communities. Please sponsor the communities as we strive to move towards sustainability over the next few years by donating to this page.
Over the next few months we plan to install an extremely ambitious sustainable income program some of whose benefits will go towards running an old people's home. Whilst still in the planning stages it will involve initiating local businesses with some of the profits going towards the sustainable running of the home, to include meals and daily help. With a fundraising target of $20,000 to get this started we are at the start of what could be an extremely beneficial project for years to come.
Thank you all for your support and please do sponsor the community as they take on their hike on 6th June. Cheers
2015 is the year when we really want to start investing in sustainable income plans which will benefit the families, especially the elderly, for the future. We have already started though there is still a long way to go: by investing in chickens (Plan Pollo) there will be daily eggs in the household and extra income; similarly with Plan Moo - fresh daily milk and years of subsequent calves which will become milk-producers themselves (if they are female - if they are male they are sold to purchase a female to continue the cycle). Plan Corte, weaving, allows us to purchase large-scale looms which the elderly can use to make traditional textiles to sell in the local markets. And of course the reforestation program not only prtects the crops from wind though sustainably provides a source of firewood when needed near to home, rather than walking miles each day collecting wood.
Thank you to all our donors who continually help to make this happen and who will make this happen in the future. Remember that on 6th June we are undertaking The Phoenix Seven Continent Charity Challenge, where you can undertake any fundraising event at home, knowing that fundraisers are being held on the same day around the world. Please do get involved and use this page as your fundraising page - every cent counts!. For more information click here.
Thank you and have a great March!

This holiday season we would like to try and raise funds for our sustainable plan initiatives which help the elderly, the families and the projects by generating income – please see the link at the bottom of the page to find out more on our sustainable plans. By donating now we can start plans to sustain the children’s education, daily food and fruit, local teachers, school materials and much more, well into the future thus freeing up more available income for the elderly of the household. Please help us avoid empty fruits baskets, broken pencils and deserted classrooms by donating and sharing this month, as you have donated before, and help us sustain their future for years to come.
Happy Holidays
cheers

This year we would like your one-off generous Appeal donation to work now and sustainably in the future, providing daily food and fruit, local teachers’ salaries and materials for the children as well as extra local family income for years to come, hence we will be investing in sustainable income plans with this year’s Appeal!.
To put it simply, every dollar you give to this year’s appeal will keep working now and for years to come, with the immediate income derived from the sustainable plans being shared between the families and the projects. You can get together with friends, family or work colleagues and basically build your own sustainable plan knowing that over the coming years it will be providing for the projects!
Thank you and together we can go a long way to making the projects sustainable with this Appeal by donating here – cheers

Our recently implemented and on-going investment in Plan Moo (our income generating plan which creates income for families and the school through the sale of milk) is also hugely beneficial for our ageing population - see the photos. More income in the family means more food for the whole family, and this includes the elderly, so Plan Moo is a huge success so far.
A recent study showed that medicinal plants we gave out during the last two years to our group of elderly population have been another great success. The small plants have now become large bushes and what the elderly don't use for personal consumption is sold in the local market, creating further disposable income.
Over the coming months we will also be investing in our income generating sustainable plans which should provide income for the schools as well as the local families. These include buying cows, chickens, weaving looms and micro-investment into local start-up businesses. By investing now we create employment for the future: education now, employment and income in the future. For more information on our sustainable plans, please follow this link and get involved!
Finally, let’s not forget what The Phoenix Projects are all for in Latin America: 40 local teachers, the majority of whom were previous students, teaching almost 1000 children daily whilst receiving food across five countries benefiting seven communities (fifteen if you include the communities our students come from in Honduras for our colegio)...all for under $200,000 a year - every penny and cent counts - thank you to everyone who makes this possible year after year.
