YoungMinds Vs launched and Headmeds coming soon.....

By Sharon Coleman | Senior Fundraiser

"We only get one shot at growing up but now it's tougher than ever.  School stress, bullying, sexual pressure, no jobs and then not being able to get help when we need it are stressing us out.  Together we are powerful - fight the pressure and sign up now to demand that the people who make decisions about our lives start listening and make things better for us."

If you are under 25, or know someone who is, our YoungMinds Vs campaign I told you about last time, has now launched.  We need to get 50,000 young people to sign up and 500 organisations.  Our new website www.youngmindsvs.org.uk will tell you more about the campaign so please do have a look and please email if you want to get involved or want to know more.

Hopefully you saw some of the  media around the launch on TV, in newspapers (including some front pages) and on the radio.  Ed Miliband, Nick Hurd and Paul Burstow all spoke at the launch event giving cross-party support, celebrities such as Frankie Sandford from the Saturdays explained why she supports the campaign and we had some wonderful and inspriring young people host the event, explain their own reasons for supporting the campaign and give performances.

In other news, the Parents' Helpline has more and more callers, visitors to the website are still increasing and our twitter following goes up every day.  We are also getting ready to launch 'Headmeds' which is a straight talking site for young people on their mental health medication.  Young people keep telling us that they don't fully understand the medication they are taking; they find it difficult to find understandable information themselves and are too scared to ask questions such as 'Can I drink alcohol with this medication?', or 'Will it affect my love life?'  I'll update you in my next report...........
