Women in Asia through Peace Circles are breaking taboos around menstruation, highlighting wrongs of child marriage, building bridges across religious and tribal divides, mobilizing men to promote women's participation in policy making and advocating for transformational and healing narratives in their society. The Peace circles led by our dedicated Creators of Peace Facilitators have made a significant contribution to these changes. These women need support to enable them to continue and expand.
Our Peace Circle Facilitators and Mobilizers are volunteers, and many of them come from difficult situations with limited access to resources and communication networks. They need to be able to attend a regional gathering for strategic thinking and skills building which is planned for 17-21 February at Panchgani, India. These active and committed women need financial support in order to be able to travel and participate in this program where they will get the capacity building and support needed
Strong partnerships and improved skills will enable them to respond to the huge need to harness the power of women as peacebuilders. They will share experiences, reflect together and build a collective community of support that will enable and reinforce their commitment and effectiveness. They will celebrate their gains, learn from experienced Facilitator Trainers and inspiring speakers and together plan strategically, build their support networks and consolidate best practice
Creators of Peace envisions a world where every woman embraces her value as a peace creator in family, community and nation; creating peace in her own heart first, she reaches out to others and to the needs of the society she lives in. We expect to see more local Peace Circles and women becoming more empowered and active in creating peace in their own lives and in their communities. This gathering will empower the team to continue and expand peace circles for women in the Asia region
