Young women who finish the free Paper Fig Foundation Skills Training Program are adept tailors, but now they need to put their skills to use! Entrepreneurship is the key that allows PFF graduates to truly support themselves. Help PFF Entrepreneurs by funding the PFF showroom, a retail space in the center of Kasese, Uganda whey they can connect to customers and grow their businesses.
Young women who cannot afford traditional school fees in Uganda lack access to skills and training, and end up vulnerable to child marriage, dangerous work conditions, and extreme poverty.
We train young women with tailoring skills. Once they have the skills, we train them how to put those skills to use to earn an income and support themselves and their families. Learning to write a business plan, market their work, and create a budget are all the advanced training skills we provide in the Entrepreneurship Program. In addition, we provide tangible support, like seed funding for initial collections or technological support like access to iPads and internet.
As more skilled tailors graduate from the Paper Fig Skills Training Center, they enter into the Entrepreneurship Program and build their businesses. The long term impact is that more women are running their own businesses and finances in Kasese and beyond. This not only stimulates the local economy; we also know that women put their money back into education and support for future generations, lifting the whole community.
