The earthquakes and aftermath continue to wreak havoc in Nepal. Global Family Village is partnering with the CHHATRAPATI FREE CLINIC (CFC), HIMALAYAN HUMAN RIGHTS (HIMRIGHTS) & GLOBAL FAMILY VILLAGE-NEPAL (GFV-N) to assist victims that are without proper shelter or sufficient food, and are becoming more vulnerable and at-risk. The 3 organizations have created a comprehensive program that is empowering & sustainable, helping the families to heal and become strong.
The devastation caused by earthquake worsened with Monsoons, causing landslides and flooding, even wiped out an entire village. Winter cold is approaching. There are hundreds of villages that are still waiting for even the most basic kinds of support. Thousands are homeless. Victims are even more vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. Young children are suffering post trauma syndrome. Victims are unaware of how to get the support they need.
GFV and partners will: Provide families with food & cooking packets. Bring medical support and medicine to the villages. Provide temporary shelter materials and help others to secure funding sources and building permits. Provide schools with temporary classrooms that can later be incorporated into a permanent structure. Help children & guardians understand and cope with Post Trauma Syndrome Help citizens learn about their rights, how apply for grants, aid & building permits.
Over 180 survivors will have taken leadership roles helping affected families learn about their rights and how to access support. 650 families will have safe shelter from the winter cold. 100 families will have permits and 1st installments to rebuild homes. 2 schools will have temporary-to-permanent wall units. Food/cooking packets to 2500 persons - 1170 people will received medications & follow-up. 500,000 children's books will help young children understand the trauma, and begin healing.
