It is widely acknowledged that a great number of women around the world are excluded from formal economies despite their remarkable contribution. Sprout care foundation believe in investing in women economic empowerment as a direct path towards gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth. Women make enormous contribution to economies but remain disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination and exploitation.
Rural women and girls are faced with many challenges that includes domestic violence, poverty, discrimination and exploitation. Some of these women and girls are living with HIV/AIDS. Given this there is low or no inclusive participation of women in community development and decisions that affect their lives.
The project will continue to support women empowerment in line with eliminating all forms of violence and ending school related gender based violence to protect girls from abuse and dropping out of school. More so the project will promote women's ability to accumulate assets through supporting income generating projects for women groups and girls. The project will facilitate advocacy campaigns by women on domestic violence, child marriage and discrimination.
Economically empowered women and girls will support other organised women and girls to work as small holder farmers improve their livelihood and their access to nutritious food and HIV/AIDS treatment. Women and girls will have higher economic resilience.
