Support Utila started in response to COVID-19, and continues in the battle against the spread of the coronavirus and to minimize hunger. There is a long road to recovery, and much to do improve Utila for the future. Your help is needed. Please help us expedite securing the resources needed to keep the people, pets and environment of Utila safe, strong and healthy.
On March 15, Honduras's international borders closed, with internal curfew and movement restrictions as a preventive measure to stop the spread of COVID-19. Utila's tourism dependent economy has been completely frozen by the pandemic, and their limited medical facilities leave them vulnerable to the coronavirus. Honduras's border's have recently opened, but tourism has yet to fully resume. These economic conditions also impact the ability of Jasper's Utila Animal Shelter to provide petcare
Support Utila seeks to expand our efforts in better equipping Utila's community medical facilities to control, prevent and treat COVID-19, along with continued support for families who are not receiving the necessary income to provide their basic food and hygiene needs plus improving sanitary conditions. We also seek to ensure the animal welfare as contributing providing necessary resources to Jasper's Utila Animal Shelter to care for pets and rescue strays along.
This project will help reduce the impact and spread of COVID-19 on Utila, while improving their healthcare resources to be better prepared against disease and healthcare concerns. By distributing food and basic needs packages, we will reduce malnutrition and hunger, which will help increase the overall health and well-being for all. Through our partnership with Jasper's Utila Animal Shelter, we will maintain the good health of pets, and work towards eliminating animal homelessness.
