Living through displacement in northern Syria is already a heavy burden.
But when a displaced person develops a serious medical condition requiring urgent surgery, the challenge can become overwhelming—especially when specialized care is beyond the family’s reach.
Thanks to your generous contributions, SEMA continues to provide life-saving surgical care to vulnerable patients who have nowhere else to turn.
Recently, a young man living with thalassemia arrived at the general surgery clinic in one of SEMA’s hospitals in northern Syria. He was suffering from severe and unbearable pain.
After urgent examinations, tests, and medical imaging, doctors discovered that he had a dangerously enlarged spleen, extending into the pelvis, as well as gallstones.
His condition required immediate surgical intervention.
Our medical team quickly prepared the treatment plan and successfully performed the complex procedure, removing both the enlarged spleen and the gallbladder.
Today, the patient is recovering.
