Urgent Support for Typhoon Gaemi Relief Efforts

Typhoon Gaemi, named Carina in the Philippines, killed 40 people with its wind gusts of 145 mphin the country.  The devastation caused by the typhoon was exacerbated by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, which brought incessant rain, resulting in flooding and subsequent  landslides.  These affected the children of the southwest sector of the country and the central Luzon area the most.

With your generous support, the Foundation was  able to react quickly and reached 9,590 families with relief packs and provided 2800 families with hot meals in the ff areas:

Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Bukidnon, the National Capital Region (Metro Manila), Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro

The Foundation’s disaster response team, known as Sagip Kapamilya (Caring for Families), had to  cross 7 rivers in Tanay, Rizal to deliver relief goods. The team worked with the soldiers and local government personnel to ensure that these goods were delivered as soon as possible.  Most heart-rending was the trek of the indigenous natives of the Philippines, called Aetas,  who had to walk 6 hours to receive their relief goods and the compassion that came with it.
