2.0 PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW
2.1 Lunch of the fourth edition of the Microloan Program for Parents International
On February 14, 2025, Learning Squared Liberia project team, with support from ACE-Liberia, officially launched the fourth edition of the Microloan Program for Parents at the Ann Sandell International School in Montserrado County. The program continues to support vulnerable parents, particularly women, by enhancing their income-generating potential so they can better support their children’s education. The project team organized a one-day refresher training. The training convened over 16 participants, including beneficiaries, teachers, students, and other community stakeholders.
The workshop focused on:
Facilitated by Ms. Samuella Cole, M&E and Training Officer at Learning Squared, and supported by Ms. Jennis Rue, the sessions were highly interactive. Participants engaged in group discussions, simulations, and role-plays grounded in real-life microloan scenarios.
One of the participants, Ma Alice, shared how the training helped her improve her business practices. She noted increased confidence in managing her micro-enterprise and shared how the proceeds from her business now support her children's education. She encouraged her peers to take the program seriously, calling it a “life-changing opportunity” that could lead them out of poverty and toward self-reliance
Following the completion of training activities, Learning Squared Liberia disbursed USD 150 to each participant. The program received strong endorsement from community leaders. Chairlady Mary also expressed appreciation, stating:
“We are always happy with this program. You don’t know how much it helps us all. If the country had more NGOs like LSL, this country would be better.”
– Chairlady Mary
