ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:
2.1 School monitoring in Bomi & Grand Cape Mount Counties
Our project team continues to monitor students' progress in schools and communities. Our monitoring team developed a tracking system that has helped schools, teachers, and parents together to help track the students' progress. Currently, the tracking system designed to track attendance, participation in class, homework completion, and other curriculum activities is user-friendly and has helped improve the outcome of our program. The program, which started in 2017, has benefited over 500 students in rural Liberia, making a statement at our town hall meetings. A female participant, representing one of our students, said, "this is an s good way to help our children progress in schools" We are very excited about developing our school system. Parents were encouraged to facilitate a cordial relationship between the school and the community. As the process helps improve the outcome of learning. During the monitoring exercise, 43 students (28 female & 15 Male) were visited at home and on the school campuses, including school administrators and teachers. While four schools also participated in the monitoring visit.
2.2 Tuition payment for sponsored children
Learning continued to support the educational sector in rural communities in Liberia. As part of our commitment to assisting underserved orphans in rural communities. We commenced the tuition payment for the 2022/2023 academic school year. Learning Squared Liberia committed a total of Three thousand United States dollars to its scholarship program..
A total of two hundred students benefited from our first phase of the tuition fees payment this year; these students are between 6-16 years, 1st to 6th-grade classes. In addition, students from Bomi, Cape Mount, and Margibi counties have benefited from the first payment phase. These students are considered underserved at Kingdom Builders school in Bomi County and the Konjah Public school in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia. Since 2017, Learning Squared has worked with over 17 primary schools and 500 students between the ages of 6 and 16 residing in rural communities to support and improve children's education in Liberia.
2.3. School feeding program to support Rural Education
Learning recently launched the Paul M. Boakai School Based-Feeding program for children in rural Liberia, benefiting from our scholarship program. The program primarily focuses on providing hot meals and lunch for children, targets the most vulnerable students, and provides them with a meal and snack. The program helped strengthen greater and regularized school attendance, alleviate hunger, and enhance the learning capacity of students in these counties for one academic year. We currently provide meals to 350 students of the ROSODAN school four times a month. Our survey showed that 87% of students go to ROSODAN school without a meal. These are the school's most vulnerable students who would otherwise go hungry and, as a result, would be less able to concentrate during their lessons and learn effectively. The program has also brought students back into school who had dropped out, has helped keep students in the school who may otherwise have dropped out, and has helped attract new students. This program complements our education program for children.
2.4 Recommendation and Conclusion
Learning Squared Liberia acknowledges and appreciates her distinct supporters, donors, GlobalGiving, Local communities, and schools for the level of commitment shown towards the successful implementation of the project. Had it not been for your endless effort, we wouldn't have reached thus far. Hence, Learning Squared Liberia is open to working with all children of Liberia, Mostly the under privilege children in rural Liberia.
