ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:
2.1 Support School with Building Materials
Learning Squared donated building materials to the Kingdom Builders School in Klay District, Bomi County. The effort was a part of our strategic and technical support to our partner schools in rural Liberia. The items donated included two-panel doors, two build-in locks, and a donation of $5,000 LD for other expenses. The Country Manager of Learning Squared Liberia, Mr. Alvin M. Freeman, informed community leaders and the school authorities of the significant interest in providing support for students to have a safe environment to attend schools. He further noted the organization is the commitment to supporting the educational sector in the county.
For her part, the Principal of the school Madam Massa Kennedy. Madam Kennedy expressed thanks and appreciation to the Learning Squared for the level of support giving to the school. She promised to uphold the safety and protection of all children and the environment.
2.2 Extend scholarship program to one school in Tallah Community
Parents faced many challenges and hardships in rural Liberia to support children's education in rural communities. As a result, learning Squared Liberia was able to extend its scholarship program to the Anthony Tubman Public School in Tallah Community, Grand Cape Mount County. A full academic year scholarship, including learning materials and tuition, was provided for twenty -28 students between 1st-6grades. Local authorities applauded the support and commitment to help monitor school attendance and children's progress as part of their support to the Project.
2.3 Organized community stakeholders meetings
Learning Squared Liberia facilitated two separate community stakeholder meetings in Bomi and Grand Cape counties. These meetings brought together over 40 participants, including parents, teachers, community leaders, counties, and district education officers. The aim of the community town hall meeting was to discuss the progress made by students during the just-ended school year and also share with parents and teachers information about the scholarship program for the academic year 2021-2022. At the meetings, parents were encouraged to prepare themselves for the coming school year. The program team also discussed and provided information about the social microfinance program that supports women to generate income to help support their children's education.
2.4 Recommendation and Conclusion
Thanks and appreciation to our supporters, donors, GlobalGiving, Local communities, and schools for the level of commitment shown towards the successful implementation of the Project.
